With the whirlwind of Thanksgiving and Black Friday over, it’s time to really ramp up for Christmas. As the holiday approaches, we all start thinking about what gifts to give our loved ones. Black Friday has evolved over the years to include being online now and it’s not just a day, but a week or a month or whatever each business decides they want it to be. Just because Black Friday is over though, doesn’t mean all the sales are. Handmade Buyer’s Market and some of our other favorite groups still have some amazing sales coming!

Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday is an important one. Our small businesses should be the ones we are fighting for and supporting with our buying power not just today, but every day. Shopping from small business owners makes an enormous impact on them unlike the large corporations that are mass producing everything. Not only can you find better customer service and a bigger variety of products than you will find at any big name store, you give back to the community by adding jobs and helping our environment by saving on pollution and garbage, and recieve better quality products. Save some of that Christmas shopping for Small Business Saturday and hopefully we can make every day small business day soon.

 

Cyber Monday

Cyber Monday has not been around quite as long but it sure has come a long way. 🙂 Online shopping back then was just starting and not many people were ready to trust it quite yet. Not so much a problem anymore. Since we have evolved to big time online shoppers, Handmade Buyer’s Market decided to continue our #handmadeholidays weeks to include Cyber Monday, starting tomorrow. All of my jewelry is made in a smoke free and pet friendly home. Although she doesn’t participate, my oversized puppy likes to hang out in my office sending creative vibes my way.

Everything in The Purple Pachyderm Jewelry Shop is custom made, handmade, and a one-of-a-kind original design. Outside of custom orders, no two bracelets will ever be the same. Designing and executing a design can be a long process and take hours, sometimes days, to finish. Our designers use every minute of that time creating something fantastically original with a unique twist. The price of our work is determined by the cost of materials and the hours of labor. 

In the early 1900s and after the death of her mother a young woman, Anna Jarvis, began a campaign for a day to honor all mothers. She started her campaign by writing to congressman asking them to set aside just one day. Soon after the governor of West Virginia announced the second Sunday in May as Mother’s Day. In 1914 congress passed a bill and President Woodrow Wilson signed the bill making Mother’s Day an official holiday. Everyone celebrates this wonderful holiday differently, but breakfast in bed is the most popular.

If you venture out of bed after that breakfast, here’s what you’ll have wrapped around your wrist wearing this bracelet. The center piece beads are deep red puffed triangles and dark ruby twists. There is a beautiful 11mm matte red melon, a marbled maroon, a 4mm and 8mm garnet, and a 4mm opaque red. There’s also a lot of metal. That included 12mm and 4mm gold-tone bead caps, 4mm flower spacers, and 4mm filigree gold-tone spacers. The eye-catcher is the 32x13mm red enable wine glass.

I love making wrap bracelets. There are so many different designs and the bead pallet is endless.
